Indian Names and Heavy Breathing

What a fun weekend we had up at Counselor Jenny and Counselor Dan's cabin! Lots of wide-open spaces in which to run and chase the ball, and the counselors didn't even get too tired of throwing it for once.

The instant we arrived, the first thing Jack wanted to do was to go jump in the lake. That earned him his special Indian name: Smells Like Lake.

Counselor Dan arrived late the first evening, and Smells Like Lake quickly helped him earn his own Indian name: Makes Dog Sing.

Smells Like Lake ran into the woods and got the scent of deer in his nose. He almost forgot to come back, it was so exciting!

We were also amazed at the amount of heavy breathing Smells Like Lake did all weekend. Panting at the table, panting next to sleeping counselors, panting on the lawn, panting while looking out the window...

On the last day, Smells Like Lake got a bath so that he could become Jack again.

He was SOOOO good about being bathed! And then he rolled around and around on the grass.

It's even more fun to fetch the ball out of the smelly lake!

Ball slinger success; ball slinger ball, not so much

Jack managed to destroy the ball that came with the ball slinger, but the slinger itself seems to be doing its job. Plus, no one has to touch his slimy ball.

Tomorrow, Doggy Camp moves Up North. Stay tuned...

Camp Dog. Day 1

Hey! today was Jacks first day at the local dog park! He was sooooooooooooooo happy to play fetch with a playmate that the counselor brought and two other people. The two people didn't like a slimy ball and barely touched it but Jack to to play fetch with the playmate. We found out today that it takes 40 minutes to make a golden doodle tired. Yep, he played for a hardy 40 minutes before he just wanted to go home. After the dog park, the counselor and her niece gave Jack and Joey some water. Boy oh boy, you don't know how happy that makes a dog. When they got back to the campsite, the counselor and her niece planted some flowers and clean the camp site. Jack played with the hose when the deck was being cleaned. Anyway, Jack had a great first day!

Throw the ball! Throw the ball! (Note how clean the ball is.)

40 minutes of this to wear him out:

Ball's not looking so clean now.

the first day

Yesterday was Jack the Dog's first day at camp dog! He went to the site and had a blast meeting his other camp friend Joey. Jack and Joey played when Jack's mommy was with them and he just wanted to play fetch with the tennis ball he found himself. He and Joey played fetch with the counselor and they got to see each other again. Jack and Joey first met in the winter when Jack's mommy and daddy went out of town and his two playmates went to Florida. Life is good for him and he can't wait for the upcoming two weeks with Joey.
